Buzz Chart 000. February 07, 1999 01. Festival. Oblique Winter Nights. Nevers, France, 30/31 January 1999. Rencontres Electronica is the kind of small events we'd like to see more often in this country. Organized by the french label Noise Museum it was the chance to see newcomers and names and have a nice typical french medieval lunch (Restaurant La Botte De Nevers, rue du Petit Chateau, 58000 Nevers, France, phone +33 (0)3 86 61 16 93/fax +33 (0)3 86 36 42 22). Good (live acts): - Goem, minimal Dutch techno with members of Kappotte Musiek, Quest... lo-fi pleasure. (http://www.staalplaat.com) - James Plotkin/ Matt Wand, a duo for guitar and CD players, James Plotkin ( O.L.D, Scorn etc...) on the chords and Wand ( Stock, Hausen& Walkman, the disco cutters) jumping on its CD players. Intriguing and strong. - Dj Speedranch & Jansky Noise. Turntable anarchism. Music terrorism. Dancing on white noise. The question: is there an end to techno? Loved it. - Fragile. No surprise but a lot of poetry from this young french bloke. - Rapoon. Ex Zoviet France Robin Storey for an enchanting soporific dream. - David Shea / Robin Rimbaud ( Scanner). Sorry you missed that! OK: - S.E.T.I, Seekness, Fx Randomiz. - Freq.63, Celluloid Mata. Bad: - Dither ( too ego.). - Nikolaps ( too noisy). - We ( too missed, maybe next one). 02. Web. http://www.muxspace.nu. Extremely intriguing with all this space free. Take your time to read and appreciate the message. http://www.forcedexposure.com. One of the best music retailer on the Net, with a very complete catalogue. 03. Book. Brian Eno. Une annee aux appendices gonfles. Journal. Le Serpent a plumes. (French Edition). One year (1995) in the life of "amb man." Humble and sharp, mister Eno doesn't try litterature and hits your senses. A lesson for so-called writers. And a chance to understand a little better the man's life. |
