Japan (Kyoto): Temple Surfing.

So we learned the lesson and looked at a map
before heading for a whole day walk.
And we decided to start with the Rock Garden,
which is said to be the most beautiful Zen garden,
at Ryoanji Temple.
Although it was not the best place to meditate (look at the picture)
Ryoanji is definitely worth a trip to Japan.

15 rocks in the garden and you can never see all of them
at the same time.
The surrounding walls are made of mud and oil
and time gave them a startling marble aspect.
The wooden floor has been finely polished by gentle footsteps
and heavy duty meditation over the centuries.
I only regret to have seen some of the sliding panels
of the inside of the Temple at the Met in NYC rather than here
where they belong.

Walking south we visited and rested at
Myoshinji and Uzumasa.

No really...

Ryoanji deserves 3D.
