Japan (Kyoto): More Temples.

Monks were chanting
when we entered the big temple of Shionin.
This made us stay there more than an hour.

Then we went in the woods
looking for a big Buddha
that we had seen from the Kyoto Tower.

This rather long walk
took us to the top of the little mountain (to Shogunzuka)
that surrounds the eastern part of Kyoto.
We never found the big Buddha.

For dinner we went next to the Takasegawa river
in the Kawaramachi area
.
This is Kyoto's hot quarter at night.

We had dinner in a new, fast and cheap yakitoti restaurant.
People working there are shouting more than usual
we one enters or exits the place.
The high-tech kitchen in the center of the main room
is surrounded by a comfortable counter.
Customers and staff members are very young
which makes this place is loud and fun.

Walking in this area after dinner,
we felt like giants discovering a liliputian kingdom.
Everything there was underscaled and the urbanism
was very vertical.
Like in many other parts of Japan big cities,
most public places are on high floors
rather than being on street level.
